The Horse Protection Society of North Carolina rescues horses in desperate situations — from starvation to hoof disease, to life-threatening illness such as cancer, to just plain un-wanted. These beautiful creatures arrive with their last hope for a chance to live out their lives – healthy, comfortable, and loved. Joanie Benson, founder of the HPS, is the angel sent to do just that. She does everything in her power to help these horses on the road to recovery and, hopefully, to a “forever home” with someone to love and care for them. The HPS badly needs a second modern barn. The first new barn was quickly filled, but some of the horses are still stabled in very old and frail shelters. So what can we do to help? Let’s “Raise the Barn!”
We found out about the Horse Protection Society through Kelley E. Elledge, who nominated them for our charity line-up. A local business had brought them to her attention because of her love of horses. Kelley immediately recognized that, with all the HPS does, they needed more support. And JR Motorsports has helped provide that ever since.
So … the PBC's plan to help “Raise the Barn" has sold out of spots but you can still donate to this worthy cause.
For those who received a spot...you are entered into a 43-spot drawing for the Nationwide Car Quest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 24th. Spots were sold on a first-come, first-served basis and placement was made by a random drawing. The winner will be determined by the finishing position of the JR Motorsports #88 Navy Chevy, driven by Brad Keselowski!
But … there seems to be some missing information. Oh yes … the Prize! How does a personal tour of JR Motorsports sound?? Yes, you read that correctly! The winner will receive a personal tour (for 2) of the JRM facility in Mooresville, NC. That’s not all! Our friends at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Mooresville have graciously added to this prize – a complimentary one-night double-occupancy stay! (Reservations must be made in advance; not valid on special events.) And for a fun time and good food, O’Charley’s in Mooresville will provide a complimentary dinner for two (alcohol excluded)! The winner will be responsible for all transportation to and from Mooresville and all other related expenses. The Pit Board Charity will contact the winner to work out the final details and coordinate the date and time of the tour.
The sign up for this GR88T fundraiser has closed, but you can click the PayPal button and indicate “Raise the Barn Donation!” in the subject line if would you still like to contribute to this worthy cause. You can also snail-mail us a check using the address on our website. The time stamp on your e-mail determined your qualification for one of the 43 spots.
Please visit the HPS website at www.horseprotection.org to find out more about this great organization and their work.
